FAMM
Families Against Mandatory Minimums: organizing families to end mandatory sentences and win second chances.
What they do
FAMM lobbies Congress and state legislatures to repeal mandatory minimum sentences, expand second-look resentencing, compassionate release and clemency, and create independent oversight of prisons. It organizes people with incarcerated family members to contact lawmakers, publishes a quarterly print newsletter that circulates inside prisons, and holds regular Zoom events for families. Its site tracks active legislation state by state. Founded in 1991 by Julie Stewart; it was a founding member of Clemency Project 2014.
