Gang rehabilitation and reentry in Los Angeles, with paid job training inside Homeboy's own bakery, café and other businesses.
What they do
Homeboy Industries works with people leaving gangs and prison in Los Angeles. Participants get case management, mental health and substance abuse support, education, legal help and free tattoo removal, alongside paid job training in businesses Homeboy runs itself: a bakery, Homegirl Café, catering, a grocery, electronics recycling, silkscreen and embroidery, dog grooming and more. A separate track serves young people. Founded in 1988 by Father Gregory Boyle, S.J.; its model has been picked up by more than 250 organizations worldwide.
