What they do
The Marshall Project is a nonprofit newsroom that reports on the U.S. criminal justice system: prisons, jails, policing, courts, immigration detention and the death penalty. It publishes investigations on its own site and with partner outlets, and runs local newsrooms in Cleveland, Jackson and St. Louis. It also produces work specifically for incarcerated readers, News Inside, a print publication distributed in prisons, and Inside Story, a video series, plus the first-person essay series Life Inside. Launched in November 2014 and named after Thurgood Marshall.
